Many ready-made dreadlock sets are machine-made in the East Indies, resulting in dreads that are stiff and hard and do not drape smoothly. This can lead to a very different and less comfortable user experience. Additionally, these standard dreadlocks often come in a 60cm size, which means they are far too long for most customers.
At Dreads&Frutsels our dreadlocks are handmade, which gives us the flexibility to perfectly adjust everything to your wishes. This applies not only to the color, but also to the quantity. We not only make complete sets for full heads, but also love smaller editions. This ensures that you can always buy the perfect set of dreads that matches your personal style and preferences.
At Dreads&Frutsels we only use high-quality Kanekalon and Henlon hair to make our dreadlocks. A large part of this comes from our own range, which is specially produced without chemical coating. In addition, we use hair types from other brands that are also free of chemical coatings.
This approach allows us to benefit from a wide range of materials available worldwide, ensuring that you receive a high-quality and comfortable set of dreads, perfectly tailored to your style and needs.
At Dreads&Frutsels we offer a range of possibilities to fully personalize your dreadlocks. This can be done via a telephone consultation or by filling out our custom order form on our website. During this process you can give us valuable information about your future dreadset. After submitting your request you will receive a clear price quote and a date on which we can start with your dreads.
Our website plays a crucial role in this process, as it allows you to view our portfolio and the fixed sets we offer. With this information and the accompanying photos, you will get a clear picture of our style and the possibilities we offer. This ensures that you can buy the perfect personalized set of dreadlocks that fully matches your personal preferences.
Our dreadlocks are unique because we make them completely by hand. We use high-quality hair types, such as Kanekalon and Henlon, which we produce without chemical coating. This ensures that our dreads are not only aesthetically beautiful, but also feel comfortable and do not cause itching or irritation, which is crucial when buying dreadlocks.
In addition, all our dreads are treated with a professional steam device, which means that they last for years and keep their shape. We felt the dreads with high-quality needles, which makes them feel firm and natural. This unique combination of materials and techniques makes it an excellent choice if you want to buy dreadlocks that last a long time and fit your personal style perfectly.
At Dreads&Frutsels, our dreadlocks are available in a range of colours and colour numbers that are common in the hairdressing industry. This includes colour numbering and colours of various types of synthetic hair, ensuring a perfect match with your style. We combine our own hair line with high-quality synthetic hair types from other brands.
Because we make all dreads to measure, we can create any length you want. Whether you want to buy short, medium or long dreadlocks, we will make sure you receive a set that perfectly matches your wishes and preferences. This means that you have the freedom to personalize your look and give your dreads that special flair.
Placing dreadlocks is a process that requires care and attention. We therefore recommend looking for a good braider. In the Netherlands, there are many specialized salons that know which method suits your hair best. In general, temporary dreads last for about 8 to 10 weeks before they need to be re-applied. Our handmade sets are of high quality and can be used multiple times after careful maintenance, so that they last for years. Do you want to vary your look every now and then? Then you can easily vary with colors and styles or, for example, add curly dreads to your set.
When placing Single Ended (SE) and Double Ended (DE) dreadlocks, different braiding techniques are used:
SE dreadlocks: These have one loop at the top and are secured by pulling your own hair through the loop and then braiding it in. This provides a firm but flexible attachment.
THE dreadlocks: These are folded double and braided with a strand of your own hair. This gives extra volume and a natural distribution over the head.
Both methods are suitable for both temporary and long-term hairstyles and can be easily removed or replaced. The choice between SE and DE dreadlocks depends on your desired look and wearing comfort.
A commonly used technique is the French braid. Here you braid new strands of hair as you work your way down. This means that if you have very long hair, you can use your own hair to braid dreadlocks. This ensures a strong and natural attachment.
There are two ways to do this:
Braiding Dreads Between Your Own Hair: You start with a classic French braid, using your own hair as a base and gradually adding the dreadlocks. This ensures that the dreads stay in place without any additional fasteners.
Using Dreadlocks as Part of the Braid: Here, the dreads are used as one of the three braiding strands. This gives a robust, Viking-like look and works especially well with long dreads.
Want to make the braid firmer? You can use small elastics or yarn to secure the dreads extra firmly.
