Ceramic Earth Collection
In this new earthy collection we proudly present the 'Earth Collection'
Handmade beads from Hungary. Sturdy. Earthy. Handmade.
How are these ceramic beads made?
Each bead starts as a small piece of raw clay.
Formed by hand, without a mold, without haste.
The clay is rolled and built up into a soft, organic shape.
No two are the same, small imperfections and subtle differences make each bead unique.
While the clay is still leather-hard, details are sometimes added: an incision, a subtle relief or a soft structure.
Then the beads are allowed to dry slowly. Quietly. Naturally. Because ceramic doesn't like to be rushed.
The first firing – the biscuit firing – makes the clay strong but still porous.
Then comes the glazing.
Applied by hand, layer by layer.
The earthy tones are created by iron-rich glazes that flow during firing and react with the heat of the kiln.
In the second, high firing, the glaze melts to life. The deep browns, warm purple nuances and sometimes an unexpected blue glow only arise in the kiln, each bead a little surprise.
After cooling, they are checked, smoothed where necessary and are ready to be placed in your dreadlocks.
