Gemstones are beautiful minerals that have been used in jewelry for centuries. They are distinguished from ordinary stones by their beauty, durability, and rarity. Each gemstone has a different hardness, with diamonds being the hardest and most valuable. The most well-known gemstones are rubies, sapphires, and emeralds. Many people believe that gemstones have medicinal properties.
Gemstone or colored stone?
Not every beautifully colored mineral can be called a gemstone. This depends on the elements of beauty, durability, and rarity. Beauty refers to optical properties such as color, luster, fire, and transparency. Durability relates to hardness, susceptibility to fracture, cleavage, and chemical resistance. Hardness is determined using a relative scale called the Mohs scale. Diamond is the hardest gemstone, followed by sapphire, ruby, topaz, and quartz. Beautiful stones that are not considered gemstones, and are therefore called colored stones, include amethyst, topaz, peridot, citrine, etc.
Special effect?
Many people believe that gemstones have healing properties and that each birth month corresponds to a specific stone: moonstones. Moonstones are a collection of gemstones, each representing a month. Each moonstone is attributed with unique properties that positively influence the wearer. For example, these moonstones are said to have a positive effect on health, love life, or character. Giving a piece of jewelry corresponding to the recipient's birth month has symbolic value and is a protective gesture.
What is a birthstone?
For centuries, gemstones have fascinated us with their beautiful colors and vibrant play of light. According to astrology, each birth month is associated with a gemstone: so-called birthstones. Each birthstone is said to have a unique effect on people, especially strong when it corresponds to someone's birth month. A birthstone can have a positive influence on health, love life, or character. What a unique and protective gesture to give a piece of jewelry with a personal birthstone as a gift! Or wear the birthstone of a loved one yourself, so you always have it with you.
Gemstones have an effect on people
Perhaps it has something to do with energy fields, or simply the beauty of a stone, which has a positive influence on us. Our philosophy is that the effect and symbolism of gemstones enhance our jewelry. We've worn many stones ourselves to experience their energy.
Choosing a gemstone
Often, someone has a strong preference for a particular gemstone at first glance. This indicates that the stone and the overall jewelry piece suit them. We look for a piece of jewelry that adds "extra sparkle" to the person, and vice versa. Furthermore, a person's physical, mental, or emotional characteristics can provide clues to the choice.
Cleaning gemstones
If you want to cleanse or charge a piece of gemstone jewelry, leave it in a dark place for a day or longer, or place it near a piece of rock crystal. It's not advisable to leave jewelry in water, soil, or sunlight for extended periods.
